An evening of contemporary folk and roots music with Tarren, supported by James Dixon.

TARREN

This is New-Folk.

Bristol-based trio Tarren are taking traditional folk music somewhere new – blending traditional rhythms with intricate arrangements, minimalist forms and infectious musical hooks.

Made up of Sid Goldsmith, Alex Garden and Danny Pedler, the trio combine cittern, concertina, fiddle and accordion to create a distinctive sound that feels rooted in tradition while being fresh, playful and exciting.

Their debut album REVEL arrived to high acclaim in 2022, followed by their second studio album Outside Time in 2024, further establishing Tarren as an exciting voice on the UK folk scene.

What the critics say:

⭐ “Simply an excellent Folk trio” – Songlines
⭐ “A new and exciting act of the Folk scene with their own unique sound” – The Morning Star
⭐ “A mini folk supergroup!” – TradFolk

Expect exceptional musicianship, foot-stomping rhythms and a fresh take on English folk.

JAMES DIXON

Joining Tarren is James Dixon, a UK folk and roots songwriter based in North Cornwall.

A familiar face on the Cornish music scene, James has toured extensively across the UK and Europe with Seasick Steve, as well as supporting artists including Chris Wood, Nick Hart, Steve Knightley, Ye Vagabonds, Maddog McRea and more.

His latest album, Good Ground, was recorded around his home in North Cornwall – from his own house to St Swithin’s Church, Launcells, and even his local pub in Bude.

Blending original songwriting with traditional folk songs, the record explores everything from love and modern life to the NHS and James’s connection with Cornwall.

Expect an evening of…

Traditional folk with a contemporary edge, brilliant live musicianship, original songwriting and music firmly rooted in the landscapes and stories of the South West.

Tarren + James Dixon – a brilliant night for folk fans and anyone looking to discover something new.
